Yi Sun-sin (April 28 1545 ? December 16 1598), also commonly transliterated Yi Soon-shin , earned fame as a Korean naval leader noted for his victories against the Japanese navy during the Japanese invasions of Korea (1592-1598) during the Joseon Dynasty. Yi is also known for his innovation of the Turtle ships Turtle ships, early armoured warships, represent the world.'s first metal ship.
